Overview

selp is a local needs-and-offers marketplace that connects people who need help with people nearby who can help. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and store it, who we share it with, and the rights and choices you have about your information. By creating an account or using selp, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect & Why

Account & profile information
When you register, we collect your full name, email address, date of birth, and any profile photo you optionally upload. We use this to create and secure your account, verify that you meet the 18+ age requirement, display your public profile to other users, and send you service-related messages.
Location information
If you grant permission, we collect approximate location (from your IP address) and precise GPS coordinates from your device. We use this to show you nearby requests and offers, match users in the same vicinity, and label request cards with a general area. Location is never shared with unrelated third parties.
Messages & content you submit
Chat messages you send to other users, text in requests/offers you post, and any photos or media attachments you upload are stored and delivered to the intended recipient(s) or displayed publicly on your listing as applicable. This content is necessary to operate the marketplace and enable communication between users.
Push notification information
When you grant notification permission, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device push token along with limited device/user-agent information. This is used solely to send you real-time alerts: new messages, new offers and counter-offers, contract creation, group-chat activity, and incoming video call invites. The token is never shared with third parties outside of Google/Firebase for push delivery purposes.
Uploaded media
Photos you attach to requests, media requests, or your profile are stored in the uploads directory of our servers and served on the pages where you chose to attach them. Users are responsible for not uploading sensitive content they do not want shared publicly within their listing.
Server access logs (standard)
Our web servers routinely record your IP address, browser user-agent string, timestamp, and requested URL. These logs are used only for debugging, security monitoring, and preventing abuse of the service. They are not sold or shared for advertising.

Sharing & Disclosure

Data Storage & Security

Personal information is stored on secured servers. All data in transit between your device and our servers uses HTTPS / TLS 1.2 or newer. Database credentials, API keys, and Firebase Admin SDK private keys are stored in environment-only configuration files that are protected from public web access (blocked at the web server layer via access-control rules).

Retention

We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. After account closure, we remove or de-identify most personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required to satisfy legal, tax, accounting, or audit obligations; those records are retained for the required duration and then purged. Server access logs are rotated and purged on a standard schedule.

Your Rights & Choices

Children's Privacy

selp is not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a user under 18, we will close the account and delete the information as soon as possible. If you believe such information has been collected, please notify us at support@kooblet.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL (/privacy.html) with a revised "Last updated" date at the top of the page. For material changes that materially reduce your rights, we will also make reasonable efforts to notify you via in-app notice or email.
